TWPS (3 of 9): As a follow-up to this week's Earth Day Special, students work in their assigned groups and address the following problems: 1) Approximately 5,000 people die every day from a lack of clean water, 2) 20% of the world's population consumes 80% of its resources, 3) and the Earth's carrying capacity is between 9.5-10 billion people. Do you use water responsibly? On the other hand, do you use it wastefully? Explain. How can you justify using 80% of the world's resources when you are less than 20% of the population (the United States alone comprises 5% of the world's population and consumes more than 25% of its resources) when 40,000 children die from malnutrition daily? Overpopulation, deforestation, homelessness, famine, droughts, natural disasters, war, poverty, disease, pestilence, pollution, climate change, etc. are all affecting and assaulting or planet! What do you propose on doing about it? What solutions do you have for a sustainable future?. . . 8 minutes.
