TWPS (6 of 9): Last year, the University of California at Berkeley required 80% of its student athletes to maintain a 3.0 GPA if not, then well you need to find another college/university (one that will be less rigorous and cater to slothfulness in a lot of us)! :) Well, young social scientists what impact do you think this new academic policy (effective 2017) will have on the university in recruiting ‘blue’ chip athletes who fail to meet the minimum (requirements)? In addition, how will this resonate among the students in high school and even middle school? The message is clear: academics first, athletics second! How do see it young social scientists? Is it fair to exclude average students with a GPA of 2-2.8 from an opportunity to study and compete at a prestigious university just because their GPA is fewer than 3.0? Montgomery’s was reprimanded was swift or his actions!
