TWPS (7 of 10): Are you ‘guilty’ of caffeine overload? In the United States, over 50% of the teens consume energy drinks and according to a study in the Journal of Pediatrics, 30% of U.S. teens claim they imbibe energy drinks regularly. Last year, energy drinks like Rockstar Boom!, Amp and Khaos exceeded $21 billion in sales revenue in the United States alone! A little caffeine is harmless but if consumed excessively particularly by kids and their undeveloped bodies can lead to a host of problems! What kind of problems? Problems such as sleeplessness, slower brain development, and hyperactivity for starters. The Academy of Pediatrics believe young people should never consume energy drinks! What is so special about these caffeine laden ‘energy’ drinks? Is it healthy for teens or young people to consume energy drinks? Why or why not? Should teens reduce their heavy consumption of caffeinated beverages? How do you see it young anthropologist? . . . 8 minutes.
