Journal Entries: students continue making journal entries (good, bad, and the not so good comments pertaining to their daily lives). Students are only required to record two times per week in their journals; however, if you want extra-credit then you can write more.

(TWPS (8 of 9): The Mayan and Aztecs civilizations practiced human sacrifice as a way of honoring their Gods and restoring balance to the universe. However, the Aztecs made more than just religious offerings to the Gods, they also struck terror in the hearts of the people they had conquered thus making it easier to control them . . . while simultaneously creating ‘lifelong’ enemies! Do you think that human sacrifices are an effective way to combat terrorist activity today? Why or why not?
Students read and study Lesson 27 (The Aztecs) pages 383-389 & Lesson 28 (Daily Life in Tenochtitlan) pages 391-407. In addition, you should take notes (in your journals) highlighting the key points. Finally, I will post two TCI online
assignments (two CFUs), summary sections on pages 389 and 399. Students
read Investigating Primary Sources (IPS) on pages 400-403 and answer the
question: How did religion influence Aztec Culture?
Round five of the Great Debate Challenge Series (GDCS). The remaining debates are voluntary.
Students read the Site of Encounter assignment on pages 404-407. Then they complete SOE 5: Tenochtitlan 1428-1600 activity.
